Our Story
Since 1967 Company History
Budweiser of Spartanburg, Inc. was originally a division of the Pearce-Young-Angel Company, a South Carolina Family owned-business, which distributed malt beverages through the division starting with the repeal of prohibition. On March 29, 1955, the division was granted a separate corporate charter as P-Y-A Distributing of Spartanburg, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pearce-Young-Angel. The parent company was sold to a national concern in 1967, at which time the subsidiary was separated from its parent company and sold to principals of Pearce-Young-Angel and certain employees. The name was changed to Budweiser of Spartanburg, Inc. on December 29, 1967.
Leonard L Price and Craig M. Phillips purchased the company in 1985. Mr. Price had been the CEO and the President since 1967. When Mr. Price retired in 2000, his interest in the Company was transferred to members of the- family, thus retaining the Company as a family–owned business. Upon graduation from Wofford College in 2021, Spencer Sullivan, grandson of Craig, joined full time to learn and continue the family’s leadership of the company.
The main products for sale by the Company are the beer products of Anheuser-Busch, Inc. with a minor portion of sales being, craft, imports, liquor and non-alcohol.
